Families recognized for commitment to agriculture
(INDIANAPOLIS) -- Several local families were recognized for their commitment to agriculture by receiving the Hoosier Homestead Award.
Indiana Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch presented 103 Indiana families with the award during the State Fair.
To be named a Hoosier Homestead, farms must be owned by the same family for more than 100 consecutive years, and consist of 20 acres or more, or produce more than $1,000 in agricultural products per year.
Here are some local recipients of the 2023 Hoosier Homestead Award:
Dearborn County
The Graf-Lingg family (Established in 1847)
The Lutz family (Established in 1923)
The Stone family (Established in 1908)
Decatur County
The Henry Cooper family (Established in 1923)
Franklin County
The Miles family (Established in 1905)
The Thompson family (Established in 1854)
The Bulmer family (Established in 1916)
The Meier-Bachus family (Established in 1889)
Ripley County
The Ahrens family (Established in 1873)
The Bergman/Engle families (Established in 1923)
The McNeelan family (Established in 1863)
