Osgood firefighter equips old firetruck to bring joy to kids
(OSGOOD, Ind.) -- A local volunteer firefighter is starting a business with the goal of bringing joy to children.
Osgood fire chief Kyle Negangard traveled to Michigan to purchase a firetruck. He is giving it new life as it will now be dispatched to local birthday parties and other events.
The business is called 'First Due Ultimate Firefighter Themed Party' and it features ladders, axes, air packs and other equipment that is found on local in-service firetrucks.
"We can also bring a foam party, fog machine, and we bring lights and music with us," Negangard said.
Negangard says his goal is to not only provide a fun party but to also teach fire safety.
"That is something I am passionate about. With the fire department I've either done, or had something to do, with fire prevention at Jac-Cen-Del for the past 22 years now," he added.
