Seeking donations for fuel reimbursement
(MADISON, Ind.) – Shelby Rickerson is a former Vevay police officer who also is a pilot.
She is among the pilots flying to North Carolina to deliver supplies to victims of the hurricane, through the non-profit group called Civilian Crisis Response Team which is based in Edinburgh.
She made her first flight on Friday morning and is eager to continue making flights, however the non-profit does not offer any reimbursement for fuel costs.
“As much as I would love to make a few trips and pay for my fuel there and back I cannot afford to,” she said.
Rickerson added that the average cost of a round trip for her Cessna is $165.
“I would love to make several trips and will make as many trips as I can but it will depend on the amount of money raised,” Rickerson added.
There has been a fundraiser launched for the crucial plane trips, which you can donate by clicking here.
