Local pool player’s team qualifies for World Championship

Will compete in Las Vegas in August 

Morris at the tournament this weekend

(NEW TRENTON, Ind.) – Rising Sun native and current New Trenton resident Joe Morris is planning a trip to Las Vegas in August.


His team qualified for APA World Pool Championship after winning the Southwest Ohio APA tournament this weekend. 


Morris and his team will compete in the 9-Ball championship which has a $20,000 first place payout. The tournament will take place in mid-August. 


This is his second stint playing pool as he used to play in the 1990’s and picked it back up in 2021.


“Somebody asked me to be on a league team so I got back into it. I am looking forward to seeing how we play out in Vegas,” Morris told The 812. 


His teammates who are from Ohio are Grady Reed, Chad Armentrout, Tammy Nguyen, Andy Sergeant, Dawn Tucker and Kent Katzler.
