This is the first year the award has been given
(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) -- Several local volleyball teams not only shined on the court but also in the classroom last year.
Lawrenceburg, Greensburg, Oldenburg Academy and East Central were given the All-State Team Academic Award.
The Indiana High School Volleyball Coaches Association announced the recipients this month.
This is the first year the award has been given and only 51 programs received the honor.
To qualify, the team had to maintain an overall 3.4 GPA not only during the season, but also during the second semester.
Lawrenceburg is coached by Staci Knigga, Greensburg is coached by June Rigney, East Central is led by Meaghan Mallory and OA is coached by Debbie Gregg.
