Longtime Metamora shop catches fire Friday

Indiana State Fire Marshal investigating

(METAMORA, Ind.) – Firefighters say a quick response helped mitigate damage after a Metamora shop caught fire on Friday night.

Mr. Fudge’s Confectionary has been in operation since 1975, serving up handmade fudge, soda, sundaes and more on Main Street.

The shop caught fire around 7:10 p.m. and Metamora firefighters were on scene within 5 minutes.

Brookville and Laurel fire departments also responded.

The building has not been deemed a total loss as of now but there is some roof damage.

An investigator from the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office is en route to investigate.

This is a developing story and if there is a fundraiser established, The 812 would be happy to assist in the recovery process.
