Milan FFA delivers Christmas gifts to supporters

FFA members stop by the homes of supporters

(MILAN, Ind.) -- Milan FFA members delivered Christmas appreciation gifts to community members who are supporting the program on Wednesday night.

Over the last few years, the chapter has grown tremendously due to the amount of overwhelming support and donations. The officers and advisors wanted to make sure that they thanked businesses and individuals personally.

The FFA students stopped by the home of Milan graduate Jeff Meinders, who owns an excavating business.

“I enjoy helping young people succeed, grow and gain confidence through the program," Meinders said. "I'm a former Milan student and FFA member and officer. My wife and two sons were both Milan FFA members and it gives us great pride to see young people succeed and learn and grow through the program.”

The officers that presented the gift to Mr. Meinders spoke about how appreciative they are for the continued support.

"As a Milan FFA officer, I now see the importance to receive this kind of support from the community, especially Mr. Meinders and other donors, as they have helped us countless times with providing our organization with opportunities to grow," said Rylee Mitchell, who serves as Milan FFA secretary.

Mitchell was accompanied by the Treasurer of Milan FFA, Logan Messerschmidt. Mitchell and Messerschmidt are both first year FFA Officers.

Messerschmidt says, “Being a first time FFA officer, as well as a dedicated Ag student, I know how important it is to receive help, support, and assistance in the growth of my personal self in my agricultural experiences. Having the reinforcement from our community is the most important part of any organization, especially an FFA organization.”

Milan’s FFA Advisor, Jesse Baugh, also showed his appreciation to the community.

Baugh tells us, “I think we have been very fortunate for the help and support that we receive from the community, and this is a great opportunity to give back to those who have given more than enough, and show them how much their support means to us.”

Baugh has been with Milan FFA for two years and co-advises with Sydney Smith.

As a result of the community support, there have been many improvements to the chapter and the agricultural program.
