Milan kindergartner collects 515 food items for the needy

Part of a school initiative

(MILAN, Ind.) – A local kindergartner went above-and-beyond during her school’s initiative to help less fortunate families.

Milan Elementary held a food drive and asked students to bring in canned goods and other items for a local pantry.

Students had an incentive because the class that collected the most would win an ice cream party.

Olivia Murphy is a student in Angie Potter’s kindergarten class and she must really love ice cream and helping others!

Olivia brought in a whopping 515 items! Her family added that she did it all by herself.

Canned goods lined the hallways outside of nearly every classroom at Milan Elementary on Friday before they were picked up for delivery.

We’re proud of each student who donated and especially to Olivia who donated an astonishing 515 items!
