New CEO named to lead Greensburg’s YMCA

Replaces longtime CEO Diane Hart-Dawson

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – The Decatur Shelby County YMCA has named Mackenzie Pickerrell as their new CEO.

Pickerrell will assume the role on January 7 and replaces Diane Hart-Dawson who retired from the position in September.

She comes to the YMCA with nearly 15 years of experience in the non-profit sector where she currently serves as the Executive Director of the Girl Coalition of Indiana. Pickerrell is credited with making programming more accessible to all girls while launching the Indiana Girl Report.

The YMCA’s board members said Pickerell stood out during the interview process.

“Her energy and vision for the Decatur Shelby County YMCA is exactly what we were looking for in a leader. With Mackenzie’s experience, background and enthusiasm, we are convinced that the Decatur Shelby County YMCA will have fantastic leadership for years to come,” said Board Chair Bill Myers.

Pickerrell says the YMCA is the backbone of the community and she is thrilled with the opportunity.

“I am honored to lead the organization, building on Diane’s legacy, that empowers everyone, no matter who they are or where they’re from,” she said.

She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Indiana and a master’s degree from IU Indianapolis.
