(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Decatur County is one of most underserved counties for high-speed internet in Indiana.

Decatur County REMC is actively working to change that.

The company has entered into a strategic partnership with SEI Communications.

"Leveraging SEI Communications' expertise in telecommunications in tandem with Decatur County REMC’s commitment to enhancing connectivity in our rural areas is a significant achievement,” said Brett Abplanalp, CEO of Decatur County REMC.

Decatur County REMC is now seeking additional funding options to bring more high-speed internet to the area.

“We've already secured $500,000 from Decatur County ARPA Funds, pending approval for the fiber project. Furthermore, we submitted our application for the State of Indiana's Next Level Connect Grant on February 9,” the company said in a press release.

It is essential to gain the necessary funding to make the project a reality, the company added.

Decatur County REMC says they are committed to overcoming the connectivity barriers faced by some households.

“With Decatur County ranking among the top ten most underserved addresses in

the state, our dedication to bridging the broadband gap remains solid,” Abplanap said.
