Nobody seriously hurt after car crashes into Batesville business

Business "thankful" that nobody was seriously injured

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – A Batesville business is counting their blessings after a scary incident on Thursday afternoon.

Health Markets is located on Northside Drive and is overseen by Alex Meer and Josh Hountz.

The business recently moved to the adjoining building in the past three months.

If they were still in their old location, today could have turned out completely different.

The associates were having lunch in the new office when Alex noticed a car pulling into the parking lot around 1:20 p.m.

It appeared the driver meant to hit the brake but rather punched the gas and slammed into their old office.

“You could feel the entire building shake. We immediately called 9-1-1 once we realized what happened,” Meer said.

Alex ran outside, checked on the driver and also went to a nearby doctor’s office and called for a doctor to come out. First responders showed up moments later.

The driver was transported to the hospital for what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

This is the busy time of year for the business and Alex says this could have been far different if it would have happened last year, or even three months ago.

“The driver crashed in a spot where our clients would be seated. Also, one of our assistants sat there and she could have easily been hurt,” Meer told The 812.

Meer added that he is thankful that everyone was safe and there were no serious injuries, either to his staff or the driver.
