(GREENSBURG, Ind.) -- This past Friday, North Decatur inducted Sam Field and Jason Kirchoff into their Hall of Fame.
Family and friends gathered before the game at a reception to honor them. Their accomplishments were announced between games, and they were presented with plaques at halfcourt. These plaques will be hanging in the hall for their relatives to see for years.
Kirchoff played football, basketball, and baseball all four years of high school. After high school, he went on to play college football at DePauw University. He was the 2013 Male Athlete of the Year, 2011 Troy Hartley Award Winner, and named as one of the “Top 200” athletes in Decatur County.
“I’m honored, and I’m grateful to be chosen. It wouldn’t be possible without my teammates and the coaches that I’ve had," Kirchoff said.
Field coached multiple sports, including football, basketball, baseball, softball, and wrestling. In addition to coaching and teaching at North Decatur for 30 years, he has kept the girls' and boys' basketball scrapbook for 37 years.
Field said, “I feel very fortunate; I’ve had a lot of good people help me get here.”
