North Decatur student to perform at Poetry Out Loud competition

Will compete on Saturday

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – A North Decatur High School student will perform at the Poetry Out Loud state competition this weekend. 

Allison Whitaker will compete with other high school students from across Indiana on Saturday, March 2. 

She will recite one of her poems in front of a panel of judges. 

The winner of the state finals will advance to the national competition in Washington, D.C. later this spring.

If she wins the state level, she will receive $200 and an all-expense paid trip to D.C. for the finals. The state runner-up receives $100. 

Whitaker will travel to the competition with her parents as well as North Decatur English teacher Nina Graue.
