The Chargers honored a graduate of opposing school
(MORRISTOWN, Ind.) -- The North Decatur volleyball team was awarded for their actions prior to the game Thursday night.
The Chargers were facing Morristown which has a graduate, Quinton Batton, who is continuing his fight against cancer.
Batton was a star basketball player for Morristown before he was diagnosed with leukemia in 2021.
Friends say the cancer has recently returned.
The Morristown volleyball team has been honoring Batton this season by wearing orange ribbons and laces on their shoes.
On Thursday, North Decatur participated in activities to honor the Morristown grad.
"They did down and backs, wore their orange and donated to the cause," Morristown volleyball said.
The Chargers were awarded an IHSAA Champions Pin, which is given to a team or player who goes above and beyond for an opposing team. The award can only be given by the opponent, which is what Morristown did Thursday.
