First responders were on scene for 10 hours
(VEVAY, Ind.) – Officials say a man was found dead after falling off a barge on the Ohio River near Vevay on Thursday morning.
Volunteer firefighters with the Jeff-Craig Fire Department were among the agencies who were dispatched.
They were dispatched around 1:20 a.m. and the search would include boats, a helicopter and dive teams.
The body of the man was found between two barges. Dive teams were able to recover the body during the daylight hours.
First responders spent upwards of ten hours on the scene Wednesday morning.
The identity of the man has not been released.
Jeff-Craig Fire is an all-volunteer department with four specialty teams including water rescue. They had at least four volunteers on the scene the entire time.
