Police: Arrest made in hit-and-run in Franklin County

Police thank community for assistance

(WEST HARRISON, Ind.) – The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department has made an arrest in an alleged hit-and-run near West Harrison on Saturday.

Deputies released photos of the possible suspect and asked the community to help identify the individual on Monday.

35-year-old Cade Barnes, of Cedar Grove, was identified and arrested without incident.

The incident started on Mortashed Road, just west of State Line Road near West Harrison. Deputies say a car was turning into a private drive when it was struck from behind by a pickup truck. The driver of the car was taken to the hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

Barnes was arrested on the preliminary charges of Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident, a level 6 felony, and Driving While Suspended Habitual Traffic Violator, also a level 6 felony.

“Deputies would like to thank the community for the tips provided which helped lead to an arrest in the investigation,” Deputy Jason Lovins said.
