Police seek info in fatal 2021 hit-and-run near Decatur County

Man killed while walking on State Road 3

(NORTH VERNON, Ind.) -- The Jennings County Sheriff's Office is renewing efforts to find the driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run in September 2021.

Police say Joseph Gill was walking alongside State Road 3 near the Decatur County line when he struck and killed.

"Despite the exhaustive investigative measures taken and a wealth of information received from the public, the vehicle involved in the incident and its driver have not been definitively identified," the Jennings County Sheriff's Office said.

The case remains active as investigators are looking for tips.

"Members of the public who may have witnessed anything unusual in the vicinity of State Road 3 North near the Decatur County Line during the early morning hours of September 30, 2021, or who may have relevant information about the involved vehicle or its driver, are strongly encouraged to contact the Jennings County Sheriff's Office," police added.
