Happened early Thursday morning
(BROOKVILLE, Ind.) – Indiana State Troopers are providing an update after a man was fatally shot in Brookville early Thursday morning.
Authorities were called around 1:40 a.m. to the Riverfront Apartments on Fairfield Avenue for a report of shots fired.
32-year-old Ronald Pence was found with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sister of the victim, 29-year-old Crystal Pence, was arrested on a preliminary charge of murder.
“The preliminary investigation indicated that Crystal shot Ronald in the apartment and then stayed at the scene until police arrived,” ISP Sgt. Stephen Wheeles.
The ISP was assisted on scene by Brookville Police, Franklin County deputies, Letts EMS, and Franklin County coroner’s Brian Baxter and McKenzie Seale.
