Police warn parents about new iPhone feature

(SOUTHEAST INDIANA) -- Authorities want iPhone customers to use caution with a new system update.

The iOS 17 update has a feature called NameDrop, which Apple says allows users to quickly share contact information with a nearby iPhone or Apple Watch by bringing them close together.

The feature is "on" by default when users complete the update.

To shut it off, go to Settings, General, AirDrop, Bringing Devices Together, and change to ‘OFF.’

Police are warning parents to change these settings on their children’s phones to keep them safe.
