(ST. LOUIS) -- The Cincinnati Reds ended the season with a winning record on Sunday afternoon.
On Opening Day, a winning record didn't seem possible for most Reds fans but the team was in the playoff chase to the very end.
The Reds were eliminated from the playoffs on Saturday, the same night Bryan Hoeing and the Miami Marlins clinched a playoff birth.
Rookies like Matt McLain, Elly De La Cruz and Noelvi Marti brought a resurgence this summer in Cincinnati.
On Sunday, first baseman Joey Votto was ejected in what might be his final game as a Red or possibly his career.
The Reds put up a fight in the final 9th inning of the year but fell 4-3.
The Reds end the campaign with an 82-80 record.
