New speaker selected Wednesday
(WASHINGTON, D.C.) -- Louisiana representative Mike Johnson was voted House Speaker on Wednesday.
Johnson secured the speaker's gavel after weeks of turbulence after Rep. Kevin McCarthy was voted out of the role.
Rep. Erin Houchin, who's distruct covers Southeast Indiana, reacted to the election of Johnson on Wednesday.
"Mike Johnson is a proven conservative, a well-respected leader in our conference, and a friend to all.
Under his leadership, we will secure our southern border, protect religious liberty, and deliver results for the American people," Rep. Houchin said.
