The teacher recently received some great news!
(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) -- The community is stepping up to support an elementary teacher who was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia this summer.
Maggie Cole is a fifth grade teacher at Central Elementary School and graduated from East Central in 2017.
Her school has started a T-shirt fundraiser "Maggie's Support Squad" where you can support the teacher by clicking here to view the shirt.
Maggie just found out some great news this week! After recently starting chemotherapy, the results show that all of the leukemia in her blood and bone marrow has been removed by chemo.
She's hoping to leave the hospital in the next week before starting a 3-4 month cycle of consolidation chemo to ensure the leukemia will not come back.
Maggie says she is blessed to be surrounded by so many people in the community who are supporting her.
"I cannot thank people enough for their prayers, kind words, and acts of service. Community support gives me hope, strengthens my faith, and has lessened the burden of my healing journey," Cole said.
Maggie and her family ask for continued prayers for complete healing.
She married her husband, Jonathan, in May 2022.
