(BATESVILLE, Ind.) -- The Batesville Community Education Foundation’s annual mural project continues for the fourth year.
The project gives Batesville students a chance to share their artistic talent in a public way as the mural is located on the corner of Main and George streets.
This program features artwork from students from the four Batesville school buildings on a rotating basis.
It was Batesville Primary School's turn this school year with the theme of "Education Everywhere"
Second grader Jorja Cleghorn's art piece was selected from nearly 140 entries.
Cleghorn’s art features various instruments and musical notes floating above a smiling student.
“I drew this picture because, at one time, I had trouble learning the alphabet,” the second grader said. “But when I played the ‘ABC Song,’ I could remember it. Now I know that music helps me to learn.”

BCEF Executive Director Anne Wilson says the theme this year ties into their plans to build multi-space outdoor learning complex at Batesville Primary.
“Learning doesn’t always have to take place inside or via the same process for everyone, and studies show that students can benefit from more time outdoors, providing both mental health and academic benefits. Just as BCSC is embarking on its transformational community-connected educational approach to allow students more flexibility, our outdoor BPS space will complement that,” Wilson said.
