$6.8M awarded to Southeast Indiana
(DILLSBORO, Ind.) – Several local communities will receive funding to improve roads and bridges through the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program.
State Senator Randy Maxwell announced more than $6.8M will be dispersed within Southeast Indiana.
"High-quality infrastructure is a vital part of our economy," Maxwell said. "By strengthening Indiana's road and bridge network, we can continue to be known as the ‘Crossroads of America.’ I am glad that local leaders in Senate District 43 have taken advantage of this opportunity and look forward to seeing it benefit local residents and visitors alike."
Some communities receiving funding are:
Austin received $844,875;
Dearborn County received $1.5 million;
Dillsboro received $416,700;
Jefferson County received $1.5 million;
Lawrenceburg received $1,068,796.50;
Moores Hill received $137,649.75;
Rising Sun received $62,622.33;
Scottsburg received $388,783.52; and
Switzerland County received $923,878.95.
Through the program, the Indiana Department of Transportation matches up to $1.5 million annually when localities invest in road and bridge repairs.
Counties with populations fewer than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations fewer than 10,000 receive a 75%/25% match, while counties with populations greater than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations greater than 10,000 receive a 50%/50% match.
