Sources: Marlins trading Hoeing to San Diego

Updated: Jul 31

Trade first reported Tuesday afternoon

(MIAMI) – The Miami Marlins are trading Batesville native Bryan Hoeing to the San Diego, according to MLB insiders.

The trade also sends Marlins closer Tanner Scott to the Padres in exchange for four prospects.

So far this year, Hoeing has pitched in 16 games with a record of 1-2 and a 2.70 ERA. He has came out of the bullpen mostly but did make some appearances as a starter for the Marlins prior to the All Star Break.

The Batesville native made his MLB debut for the Marlins in August of 2022, when he was called up to face the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium.

For local Reds fans, the Padres have already made the trip to Cincinnati this year.
