Students will be drone certified at end of course
(AURORA, Ind.) -- South Dearborn High School students are among the first in the area to receive instruction and credit on drone technology.
The school has started the precision agriculture course where students not only learn how to fly drones, but also learn about the rules and regulations.
Students who complete the course will earn dual credit through Ivy Tech and also obtain a drone certification.
FFA teacher Melissa Andrew is leading the course and received approval from school officials to implement the program.
Drone use in agriculture is becoming more popular as there are local companies like Simon Aerial Ag in Osgood who specialize in crop dusting and seeding.
