South Decatur athletes host running camp for kids

High schoolers and junior-high students served as coaches

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) -- South Decatur high school runners and coaches put on an elementary running camp at South Decatur High School last week.

More than 20 students in grades 2nd through 6th participated in the camp, and high school and junior-high athletes acted as coaches for the event.

During the three day camp, young runners moved through different stations where they learned about nutrition, running form, stretching, pacing, and other important skills.

Each practice ended with some sort of running game or water balloon adventure.

Friday's camp ended with the kids putting what they learned into practice by racing each other.
