(BLOOMINGTON, Ind.) -- An 8-year-old South Decatur boy got a unique experience on Saturday.
He led the IU Hoosiers onto the field during their season opener against Ohio State and also picked up the kicking tee after the opening kickoff.
Drew Shouse, Westport, was born with a heart defect and has overcome three open heart surgeries in his young life. He also lives with chronic lung disease.
He was nominated for the Team Impact experience with the Hoosiers. Team Impact is an organization that matches children facing illness with college sports teams.
Drew will be associated with the IU program for the foreseeable future and taking part in other team activities.
