St. Mary's remembers beloved community member

Visitation and funeral will be held Thursday morning

(ST. MARY'S, Ind.) -- Community members are mourning the loss of a Franklin County man who passed away unexpectedly in St. Mary's on Saturday.

Friends remember 72-year-old Floyd Roell for being the life of the party anywhere he was at along with his saying of, "Yeah, Baby!"

He was also known for taking rides in his hot rod and drinking beer with his friends.

"He was a proud Papaw and you could commonly find him cheering for his grandkids on the sidelines of sporting events or spoiling them with treasures they would find at the sale barn," his family said.

The visitation will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday at St. Mary's of the Rock followed by the funeral.

He is survived by his wife, Marta, son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Holly, daughter, Megan, grandchildren, Ryan and Aubree Roell; and two brothers, Donnie and Marvin Roell.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s of the Rock Preservation Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by mailing to Meyers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 202 in Batesville.
