St. Nicholas School hosted Children's Grief Awareness Day

Encouraged students to think of those who are grieving

(SUNMAN, Ind.) – Students at St. Nicholas Catholic School took time to think of others who are experiencing grief on Thursday.

Children’s Grief Awareness Day was created to help people become aware of the needs of grieving children, and to make sure those children receive the support they need.

Statistics show that 1 in 12 kids in the United States experience the loss of a parent or sibling by the time they turn 18.

St. Nicholas students wore blue and luminaries lined the hallways to show their love and support of others.

"We spent time today in prayer and reflection. Some of the students signed the In Memory of graffiti wall, created Hope posters, or spent time remembering their loved ones,” said teacher Amy Beam.
