(VERSAILLES, Ind.) – An initiative is underway to donate solar eclipse glasses from Indiana to another country.

The next solar eclipse is expected to happen in October and will be viewable in South America.

Versailles Lions member Keri Johnson came up with the idea to collect glasses and ship them to children in Mexico and other countries.

Place eclipse viewing glasses in an envelope and drop them off at any Lions Club eyeglass recycling box – these are located at your local libraries, eye doctor offices, and some of the local schools.

Local Lions Clubs that are involved include Batesville, Milan, Osgood and Versailles.

A local business that wants to serve as a collection site, should reach out to Keri Johnson at lionsversailles@gmail.com.
