Students display photography at Versailles State Park

Hosted by Genesis Pathways to Success

(VERSAILLES, Ind.) – Several Ripley County middle schoolers were able to show off their photography skills at Versailles State Park on Wednesday.

Genesis Pathways to Success hosted the Photography in Nature Camp Art Show which followed a program where students were given cameras to capture photos.

After taking the photos, the students went to the Southeastern Career Center and learned how to photo edit.

Each participant picked their favorite photo which was on display Wednesday.

Batesville eighth grader Drew Nobbe came up with the idea of having the Photography in Nature Camp and said he was inspired by Jac-Cen-Del senior Carson Hughes.

“He was an athlete and also had photography hobby and I thought it was really cool that he did that,” Nobbe said. “I’ve got the Carson wristband on right now and wear it everyday, as a little reminder.”

Madelynn Cuneo is a sixth grader who is homeschooled and says her interest in photography also stems from Hughes.

“His pictures inspired me, I thought it would be fun to try to do what he did and stuff like that,” Cuneo said.

The photos were on display at the park’s Nature Center and the camp is one of several offered by Genesis Pathways to Success.

“We are incredibly proud of the dedication and creativity our students showed throughout the camp,” said Amelia Comer, Assistant Program Coordinator at Genesis: Pathways to Success. “The art show is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate the accomplishments of these young artists.”
