STW Preview: Switzerland County Pacers

The team will rely on young talent in 2023

The Quick notes:

Class 2A Sectional 39

Head coach: Ryan Jesop

2022 Record: 4-6

The Pacers will rely on their sophomores to make huge strides in 2023.

"We had slated Alex Bailey to start at quarterback, but an injury at his home has sidelined him for this year. We look for Keaton Mosley to move from the running back position to the quarterback spot now that Alex is out," said head coach Ryan Jesop.

Sophomore Kolvin Beck will hopefully make an impact on both sides of the ball.

"We have had a lot of our players involved in wrestling this year so I’m looking for our defense to be strong at the linebacker position, with Hunter Smith, Bryson Reynolds, and Darion Graham shoring up that position," Jesop added.

Brevon May will be a handful as the senior nose tackle, while his buddy Colton Parks will provide some much-needed experience in the defensive backfield.

"As far as our goals go, we are a very young team, so we are looking to improve each week, while supporting one another as we rebuild this year," the Pacers coach said.

The team lost their 3 year starting quarterback/free safety, Matt Davis along with his counterpart, Tyler Hoskins, who was an outstanding running back and outside linebacker. In the middle of the season, we lost our middle linebacker, Gavin Reese, who also graduated with Matt & Tyler this past May.

"Leadership will be huge for our team as we are waiting for someone to take over for our graduates by leading on and off the field as those that came before them have. There are a lot of young faces that are still trying to find their voice as a leader," Jesop mentioned

Be sure to get out and support your Pacers in 2023!
