9% salary increase for teachers over next two years
(ST. LEON, Ind.) -- Salaries are going up for teachers in the Sunman Dearborn School Corporation.
District officials say the new collective bargaining agreement that has been implemented reaffirms their commitment to providing the best compensation in Southeast Indiana.
The agreement increases starting teacher pay to $47,000 for this school year and then will go up to $49,000 for next school year.
The top-paid teacher will earn $91,500 next year.
The agreement provides access to health insurance while increasing the board’s contribution towards premiums, providing a $0 co-pay for in-person and virtual clinic access, and continuing a $1,500 or $3,000 Health Savings Account deposit for single or family health insurance plans.
"We are happy to have reached this agreement. The dedication and commitment of our teachers have long been the backbone of our schools and community. It is our privilege to continue to be able to offer them the highest compensation in the area," said Sunman Dearborn superintendent Dr. Andrew Jackson.
