Movie was released on Friday
(WILMINGTON, OH.) — A Sunman girl always wanted to be in a movie, and now her dream has come true.
10-year-old Finnley Weber is an extra in the new Ben Stiller movie “Nutcrackers” which debuted on Hulu on Friday.
The filming took place in Wilmington, Ohio back in January and Weber had to keep her involvement a secret until the movie was released.
“We couldn’t talk about it, share photos or do anything. We also didn’t know if she made any parts until we watched the movie on the day it came out,” her mother, Bobbie Bailey said.
Finnley appears in three different scenes for about a total of 7 minutes. The first scene she appears in is about an hour-and-five minutes into the film.
The family learned a lot about the complexities of the film process.
They were on set for two full days and each scene requires numerous takes.
“Her outfit and hair had to be the exact same even on both days. We filmed one day and came back, and the second day she had to look exactly the same as she did the previous day,” her mom said.
Finnley had the opportunity to interact with Stiller several times and described the movie star as nice and funny.
“It was cool, I didn’t know who he was at first and my dad thought it was his stand-in, like stunt guy. But it was really him,” Finnley said.
She also mentioned that Stiller would try to get her to break character on the set, by making funny faces at her.
We asked if he was successful in making her break character, which she replied “No, he didn’t.”
This will likely not be Finnley’s last time on the big screen as she has already had a few opportunities to be casted in other films.
While she has a long time to decide, she says her long-term goals are to either be an actress, a veterinarian or a singer.
