Incident involved two men from Georgia
(MADISON, Ind.) – The shooting that occurred at Clifty Falls State Park in Madison on Wednesday involved two men from Georgia.
Officials say 47-year-old Joseph Renee Lane, of Carollton, Georgia, was found near the north entrance parking lot with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.
Police arrested John Dean McElwaney, 33, of Tallapossa, Georgia, on a preliminary charge of voluntary manslaughter.
McElwaney was arrested when authorities arrived at the state park and is currently being held at the Jefferson County Jail.
DNR officials and other law enforcement agencies responded to the state park after receiving reports of a shooting around 3 p.m. Wednesday.
