Switz Co. 4-H'er to donate auction funds to cancer patient

High schooler helping local family

(VEVAY, Ind.) – A Switzerland County high schooler is using 4-H to help a local person who is battling cancer.

Sam Copeland was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2022 and has had multiple complications including a recent gastric bypass.

A family friend said the Copeland’s are incredibly selfless and have a long history of giving back to others.

“Sam has helped in so many benefits, such as ATV’s rides and they are always donating their time to help others,” the friend said.

Switzerland County student Cale Collier will participate in the 4-H Livestock Auction this weekend. He will donate all proceeds from his auction to Sam Copeland and his family .

Let's rally around them like our community does to let them know they aren't fighting this alone,” Cale’s mom, Katie, said.

The Switzerland County Livestock Auction will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday.
