Franklin, Switzerland and Jennings counties receive grants
(BROOKVILLE, Ind.) – Two local emergency management agencies are getting a boost from the Duke Energy Foundation.
Franklin County EMA has received $10,000 to fund new equipment and training, including an unmanned aerial vehicle with thermal and infrared technology, water rescue equipment, and mass sheltering items such as cots and personal care kits.
The funding for the drone technology comes after the first responders desperately searched for a missing woman after flooding on Wolf Creek Road this past summer.
The Switzerland County EMA is also receiving a grant. They will receive $9,000 to purchase firefighter equipment.
Jennings County’s EMA also received $5,000 to equip the department’s disaster response vehicle with a thermal imaging camera and provide weather alert radios to local residents.
The Duke Energy Foundation gave out more than $200,000 total to more than 30 different emergency management organizations across the state of Indiana.
