Tyson Fund awards $525K to local nonprofits

This is the 94th year the Tyson Fund has benefited the community

(VERSAILLES, Ind.) – There were ten local organizations that received a grant from the Tyson Fund this year.


The grants were awarded on Saturday on what marked James Tyson’s 168th birthday. 

Tyson was born in 1856 and helped establish the Walgreen Drug Company.


The Tyson Fund has given out grants to nonprofits for the past 94 years, which has equaled more than $25 million. 


This year, there were ten organizations that applied and received funding. 


Organizations receiving funding include Child Evangelism Fellowship, Ripley County Historical Society, Main Street Versailles, Ripley County Community Foundation, Wreaths Across Ripley County, Town of Versailles, Tyson Activity Center, Tyson Library Association, Versailles Fire and Versailles Lions Club.
