97-year-old World War II Veteran in Dearborn County
This week we're celebrating 97-year-old George Klopp Sr. of Dearborn County!
The World War II veteran is a legend around Lawrenceburg and Greendale and stays active every day with golfing, walking and being with friends and family.
Klopp joined the Navy in 1944 and served 22 months in the South Pacific. After arriving by ship, he was assigned to help with security at a Naval Base hospital in Espiritu Santo, New Hebrides.
Despite his age, he is still an active member of the Southeastern Indiana Honor Guard and has served in the Lawrenceburg American Legion Post as well as the Honor Guard for nearly 75 years.
