(MASON, OH) -- Local tennis fans are receiving good news Tuesday morning.

The Western & Southern Open will remain in Cincinnati for the long-term future, the tournament announced.

It comes after months of attempts to convince the owner, Beemok Capital, to relocate the international tournament to Charlotte, North Carolina.

At one point this year, it seemed likely that the tennis tournament would be leaving it's longtime home in Mason.

Tennis stars Novak Djokovic and Coco Gauff made the announcement on Tuesday.

The Western & Southern Open will mark its 125th year in Cincinnati in 2024 and the tournament will be expanded to two weeks.
