Whitewater Twp. Ohio evacuation order still in effect

Incident began Tuesday afternoon

(WHITEWATER TWP, OH.) – The evacuation order is still in effect for residents in the Whitewater Township, Ohio area.

It was issued after a rail car was leaking Styrene gas near the intersection of U.S. 50 and Ohio State Road 128 on Tuesday afternoon.

There were fears of a possible explosion from the leak yesterday.

The incident led to Lawrenceburg and Greendale fire departments being called to the scene to provide mutual aid.

Hamilton County EMA officials are urging the public to continue staying away from the area.

They did confirm that the Styrene is no longer leaking as of Wednesday morning.

There are some road closures in place including at U.S. 50 from Lawrenceburg Road in Whitewater Township to State Street in Cleves.
