Woman killed, man hurt in Decatur County crash

Police say speed may be a factor in the crash

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) -- A Columbus woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Decatur County Wednesday.


The crash occurred on County Road 100 South near County Road 1050 West.


34-year-old Danielle Mills was pronounced dead at the scene.


The driver, Bearette Messina, 32, of Columbus, was flown to an Indianapolis hospital due to the severe extent of his injuries.


Police say excessive speed may be a contributing cause to the crash.


The Decatur County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Burney Volunteer Fire Department, Letts Fire/EMS Department, Decatur County EMS, Greensburg Fire Department, Decatur County Dispatch, the Decatur County Coroner’s Office, the Indiana

State Police and Statflight Air Ambulance.
