Woman overcomes disability to create artwork

On display at the Batesville library

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) -- A display at the Batesville Library is featuring a special artist this month.

Erin Burns doesn't let her disability get in the way of creating artwork.

She has made everything from animal farm drawings, diamond art pictures, paintings, pastels, charcoals and pottery pieces.

Those creations are now on display for all to see when you walk into the library.

"I feel like I have shown my creativity and artistic work into each piece I have done and I want to show it to the community from what we can do," Burns told The 812.

When she's not making art, Erin volunteers her spare time at New Horizons to help others.

"I have excellent parents and a huge shout out to my friend Debbie Miller to support me on this to follow my dreams to get me on to this journey to enjoy this hobby and to hopefully improved my paintings and diamond art next year," Burns said.

The Batesville Memorial Public Library says they welcome additional artists to display their work there.

"It is fun to see the artist/collector get excited about showcasing their work or collection. And our patrons love coming in to see what we are highlighting each month. We are so glad that Erin took the leap of faith to share her talent with the community," said library executive director Kim Porter.

If you have a collection or artwork that you would like to share contact the library at (812) 934-4706 or email info@ebatesville.com
