Your phone will receive emergency test alert Wednesday

Expected to occur around 2:20 p.m.

(SOUTHEAST INDIANA) -- FEMA will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System on Wednesday, October 4.

Expect to receive the alert on your cell phone sometime around 2:20 p.m.

This will be the second time that a test will target all cell phone users in the United States.

The national test will also be sent to radio and television stations.

The purpose of the test is to ensure there is an effective way of warning the public about emergencies, particularly those on the national level, FEMA said.
