Annual free trip out west for Ripley County students
(VERSAILLES, Ind.) -- The local non-profit Youth to Yellowstone will host their first-ever reunion in September.
The program provides a free trip to Yellowstone National Park each summer for Ripley County teens who haven't had a chance to travel before.
The reunion will be held Sunday, September 10 from 12-4pm at Schimmerhorn Shelter at the Versailles State Park.
Former students will be encouraged to gather and share memories of their experiences on their trip west. They can also bring photographs of their trips with them and wear their Youth to Yellowstone shirt.
Families and camp counselors are also invited to attend the reunion.
Reservations are requested, so that there is enough food available. Those coming are asked to call Nancy Laymon at (812) 212-9508 or Bill Riley at (812) 621-1965, with number of those planning to attend.
Admission into the park is free for Youth to Yellowstone attendees as they long as their mention their affiliation with the group.
Youth to Yellowstone has been taking disadvantaged high school students to Yellowstone National Park and surrounding special sites since 2015.
Generous donations from local foundations, organizations, civic and service groups, and individuals have made the trips possible.
